SpaceX sending Japanese robots to moon; Blizzard distributes demos; Bonfire Ventures seeks $20 million

SpaceX and ISpace Shoot for the Moon

Hawthorne-based Space Exploration Technologies Corp. will deliver two robots to the moon on behalf of Japanese technology outfit Ispace. Bloomberg reports the Tokyo-based lunar exploration startup has signed on for two launches in 2020 and 2021. The first will carry a lunar lander into orbit around the moon and the second will deploy a pair of rovers.

Blizzard Adds World of Warcraft Demo to BlizzCon

Activision Blizzard Inc.’s BlizzCon, an e-sports competition and Blizzard game showcase will be held at the Blizzard Arena in Burbank Oct. 25-29, and Blizzard announced today those who buy a ticket will be gifted a “World of Warcraft Classic” demo. VentureBeat reports the demo will be playable for attendees and only accessible to those who buy virtual tickets to stream the event rather than physically attend.

Bonfire Ventures Aims New $20 Million Fund

Santa Monica-based venture investor Bonfire Ventures wants to raise $20 million for a new investment fund. Socaltech reports the new fund will be called Bonfire Ventures Select I. Regulatory Securities and Exchange Commission filings indicate that the first sale has yet to occur; and Bonfire Ventures has not yet released a formal statement on the new venture.
