Tutor Perini Corp. said late Tuesday that it received a $215 million contract for construction of a state Highway 24 expansion tunnel near Oakland.The Sylmar company said Caltrans awarded the contract for a fourth tunnel at the Caldecott Tunnel complex to its Tutor-Saliba subsidiary. The tunnel will add two additional lanes and improve traffic between Alameda and Contra Costa counties
Construction on the project, which includes a new operations and maintenance center, is expected to begin in January and take about three years to complete.
Tutor Perini shares closed down 36 cents, or 2 percent, to $17.62 on the New York Stock Exchange.
