Northrop Gets Homeland Security, Military Contracts

Northrop Grumman Corp. said it has won several homeland security and military-related contracts totaling $82.5 million.

The largest contract, valued at $46 million, is to provide communication help to U.S. immigration and customs enforcement, Los Angeles defense contractor announced late Tuesday. The contract from the U.S. Homeland Security Department runs for one base year with four one-year options, and will be carried out by Northrop’s information systems unit in Fairfax, Va.

Northrop said separately that it also was awarded a $17.6 million follow-on task order for fielding and deployment of a security system which provides desktops, servers and laptops across for the U.S. Department of Defense. The company will work with Santa Clara anti-virus software developer McAfee Inc.

Separately, the Pentagon said Northrop received a $15.6 million contract boost from the Navy to provide aircraft data management services on the E-2D Hawkeye, an “airborne early-warning” aircraft. Work will be performed in Bethpage, N.Y., Grand Rapids, Mich. and other locations.

Northrop said Wednesday received a $3.3 million contract from the Air Force to provide support services for the A-10 Thunderbolt aircraft. Northrop Technical Services will develop a system safety program and provide program and engineering management support.

Northrop shares closed up 86 cents, or 1.6 percent, to $54.82 on the New York Stock Exchange.
