Tetra Tech Inc. said Tuesday that a joint venture received a U.S. Coast Guard construction contract that could be worth up to $500 million for a variety of work.

The Pasadena engineering services company said that the contract for its TtEC-Tesoro joint venture involves construction and design-build projects at U.S. Coast Guard installations and U.S. Department of Homeland Security facilities in the United States and U.S. territories. Projects may include operational, waterfront, housing and medical facilities.

Tetra Tech noted that four other contractors also were awarded contracts with $500 million ceilings each under the seven-year, $2.5 billion program. “This contract represents a significant expansion in our contracting capacity for the U.S. Coast Guard and (Homeland Security),” said Tetra Tech Chief Executive Dan Batrack, in a statement.

Separately, Tetra Tech received a $13.1 million contract from the Navy for a sanitary sewer system, storm drain removal and other services at Hunters Point Shipyard in San Francisco. The work is expected to be completed by March 2011.

Tetra Tech shares were up 21 cents, or less than 1 percent, to $27.57 in midday trading on the Nasdaq.
