Business Journal Launches New Site

The Business Journal has launched an expanded Web site that features a mix of daily business and economic news, updated stock information and other content to serve L.A.’s business community.

The centerpiece of the online news service will be labusinessjournal.com, which will provide updated news Monday through Friday, with a heavy emphasis on developments in the Los Angeles area. Until now, the Business Journal site had only posted items once a week from the paper’s print edition.

All the daily content, along with a selection of stories from the print edition, will be free of charge. Other stories from the print edition, as well as from the papers electronic archives, can be purchased for $3 each. Current subscribers of the weekly Business Journal will have access to all content, including the archives, free of charge.

“This is a long-awaited opportunity for us to become timely and relevant in our coverage of Los Angeles,” said Editor Mark Lacter. “We expect the daily Web site to become a crucial complement to our weekly product.”

Two services will branch off from labusinessjournal.com: the Daily News Alert, which is a summary of major stories of the day and is e-mailed to registered users at no charge; and Weekly Industry News, which will highlight important local stories that appeared on the Web site or the print edition and is also e-mailed at no charge.

Additional services and features are planned for the first quarter of 2005.
