Hilton to Open Starbucks in Hotels

Hilton Hotels Corp. signed a licensing agreement with Starbucks that will enable selected Hilton, Doubletree and Embassy Suites Hotels to operate Starbucks-licensed stores.

The first hotels to introduce new Starbucks stores will be the Waldorf-Astoria, Hilton New York, Hilton Springfield and the Hilton St. Petersburg. The hotels will be able to open and operate a Starbucks store within their location, provided they meet Starbucks business and licensing requirements, Beverly Hills-based Hilton said in a statement.

“We are very excited to bring the renowned quality and variety of Starbucks offerings into more of our hotels,” said Paul Keeler, vice president of food & beverage, Hilton Hotels Corp.

Hilton started putting Starbucks in its hotels in the first quarter of last year, when it opened locations in the Hilton Anaheim, Embassy Suites Hotel Niagara Falls and the Embassy Suites Hotel San Diego Bay. Those openings were one-off deals, the company said, to test the waters. The success of the hotel stores soon led to the negotiation of a broader licensing agreement.
