U.S. consumer sentiment slipped in February, according to a survey released on Friday.

The University of Michigan’s final reading of its consumer confidence index for February was 94.1, down from January’s final reading of 95.5. Analysts had expected the final February figure would dip slightly to 94.5.

Consumer confidence is considered a barometer of consumer spending, which accounts for two-thirds of the U.S. economy.
