The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles area climbed for the seventh consecutive week, rising 9 cents to $2.921 for the week ended April 17.

L.A. prices are 32 cents higher than they were a year ago, according to the Energy Information Administration. Statewide, prices rose 8 cents from the previous week to $2.896, up 31 cents from a year earlier.
