Contractor Must Pay Back Wages

Pacific Housing Diversified, a Los Angeles-based general contractor, has agreed to pay $385,800 in back wages to 164 employees and $61,000 in civil penalties.

Investigators from the Wage and Hour Division of the U.S. Department of Labor found that Pacific Housing, which specializes in construction of low-income housing in the L.A. area, did not pay required overtime pay, prevailing wage rates or fringe benefits to laborers as required by several labor acts. In addition, the company also failed to keep complete records of hours worked.
