Teledyne Buys San Diego Firm

Teledyne Technologies Inc. said Monday that it has agreed to acquire San Diego-based Impulse Enterprise Inc. for an undisclosed sum.


The Thousand Oaks-based maker of electrical connectors and controls used by offshore oil and gas companies said the deal is a move to bolster its underwater communications offerings. Impulse makes underwater connecters and posted sales of $17 million in 2006, Teledyne said in a statement.


This is the second acquisition by Teledyne this year the company also bought Seabrook, N.H.-based D.G. O’Brien Inc. in March for an undisclosed amount.


Shares in Teledyne rose 2.6 percent, to $56.33 in afternoon trading Monday on the New York Stock Exchange. Shares are up 36 percent so far this year.
