Warner Music Group Corp. said Monday that it is still “actively” considering making a new offer to buy rival EMI Group Plc, the record label said in a statement.

The announcement comes after EMI rejected Warner’s $4.1 billion bid back in March.

Warner said that a bid hinges on “appropriate antitrust clearances being obtained.” But the New York-based label, which also has significant offices in Burbank, didn’t provide specific details.

Last month. EMI agreed to be acquired by London-based private equity firm Terra Firma Capital Partners Ltd. for $4.1 billion. EMI and Warner have attempted to buy each other four times in the past seven years.

Shares in Warner closed down 18 cents, or 1.1 percent, to $16.53 in trading Monday on the New York Stock Exchange.
