Enova Systems Inc. said it has received a contract to supply engine components to British electric vehicle maker Tanfield Group Plc.

Torrance-based Enova said it would supply 300 drive trains for Tanfield’s Smith Electric vans and trucks. Enova said in a statement that it has worked with Tanfield for nearly a year to develop the electric drive train components for the zero-emissions vans and trucks. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The order is scheduled for delivery during 2007.

“The Enova units will be a key drive line component in the first fleets of new-technology electric vehicles from Smith,” Tanfield Chief Executive Darren Kell said in a statement.

Tanfield, which had about $34 million in sales last year and employs about 460 people, acquired Smith’s Electric Vehicles, which makes electric vehicles and aerial lifts, in 2004.

Shares in Enova jumped 25 cents, or 4.2 percent, to $6.25 in afternoon trading Wednesday on the Nasdaq.
