A clan wealth plan, unveiled during a 2001 lawsuit, calls for the estimated family fortune of $15 billion to be divided up 11 ways by 2011. Major family holdings include the industrial conglomerate Marmon Group and the Hyatt Hotel chain. The family also has large holdings in Royal Caribbean International. No major transactions surfaced during the year.

Buzz:

With brother J.B., Anthony owns private equity turnaround firm Pritzker Group, bankrolled with $300 million in family money. Group bought AmSafe, a safety equipment manufacturer where Anthony now serves as chairman. Grandfather Abram Nicholas Pritzker started dynasty by buying and selling distressed real estate in Chicago, and later with sons created Marmon, which today owns everything from a railroad rolling stock manufacturer to a bolt, nut and screw manufacturer. In 1957 the company purchased a single Hyatt House hotel near LAX, the beginning of the Hyatt chain that now includes 215 properties in 39 countries. Another 49 are in development, including 15 in China. Pritzker speaks fluent Japanese and holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago, where the medical school bears the family name.
