Kevin White came to L.A. almost 10 years ago hoping to make it in as an actor, writer or singer. He’s still singing he performs with the Los Angeles Master Chorale but he also built a career in the advertising world, and now he’s the new vice president of Russ Reid Co., a marketing and communications company that handles high-profile non-profits.

When he left his Colorado career in mortgage financing and showed up here in 1998, he started doing temp work and landed a job at Grey Advertising. The work suited his temperament.

“My love for taking bits of information, analyzing them, digging for nuggets and then matching them up with various media opportunities was a perfect fit for me,” White said.

At his most recent position as vice president and account director at MediaCom in Burbank, White oversaw media planning and buying activities for clients including Warner Bros., Hallmark Channel, California Lottery and Dairy Queen. White also worked with Las Vegas hotels Bellagio, Mirage and Treasure Island and helped launch Celine Dion’s “A New Day” show at Caesars Palace.

By accepting the executive position at Russ Reid Co., White is making the leap into the world of non-profits.

“It has provided me an excellent opportunity to bring a different perspective to the direct marketing arena,” White said. “It has also allowed me to work with clients who are doing a great deal of good in the world.”

He will be providing media expertise to help Russ Reid clients such as St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, World Vision and Food Banks find and develop new donors.

White lives in Studio City. He sings with the Master Chorale at Walt Disney Concert Hall, and also sometimes performs with the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
