Lampoon Director Resigns

National Lampoon Inc., which is embroiled in an alleged stock manipulation investigation, said Friday that director Paul Skjodt had resigned and David Tornek was appointed to replace him.

The West Hollywood comedy company, which holds rights to the “Animal House” and Chevy Chase “Vacation” movie franchises, did not give a reason for Skjodt’s resignation.

Tornek, who owns restaurants and catering companies in Florida, has an accounting background and previously was chief financial officer of a private company that owned and managed restaurants and nightclubs.

National Lampoon’s largest shareholder, Daniel Laikin, resigned as chief executive earlier this month after he and other alleged co-conspirators were indicted on federal civil and criminal charges related to attempts to drive up the price of the company’s stock, which was trading at 72 cents on Friday.
