Live Nation Buys Stake in Dubai Company

Live Nation said Friday that it has agreed to acquire a 65 percent stake in Mirage Promotions, a leading live event promoter based in Dubai.


Mirage stages a wide range of concerts and events, and it secures acts for corporate clients in the region, Live Nation said. Mirage, which will continue to be led by Elissa Murtaza, will be re-branded to Live Nation by the middle of March.


“The launch of our Dubai office is another milestone in our organization’s expansion into international territories,” Alan Ridgeway, Live Nation’s chief executive of international music, said in a statement. “Dubai and Abu Dhabi have been growing rapidly over the last few years there is now a significant demand for live entertainment in the region and the world’s top artists are more and more interested in playing there.”


Dubai is an emirate located in the United Arab Emirates.


Shares in Live Nation were down 4 cents to $11.21 in early trading Friday.
