Oversee.net said Thursday that it has acquired Pompano Beach, Fla.-based domain name services provider Moniker for an undisclosed sum.

Los Angeles-based Oversee.net said that Moniker will continue to be run out of Florida and will keep its chief executive and founder Monte Cahn at the helm.

According to Cahn, the companies agreed to a “multi-year commitment” that will have Oversee taking over the everyday business of running Moniker while providing Cahn a role with executive matters at Oversee.

Moniker’s services include domain name registration and domain asset management as well as hosting live and online domain name auctions.

Oversee acquired domain name auction firm SnapNames last June and said it now expects to become a top firm in the domain name secondary-ownership market.

With the merger, domain auctions will be managed by Moniker, with the use of SnapNames Live technology, according to the companies. Cahn added that the secondary domain name market is projected to be worth nearly $2 billion in 2008.
