AEG said Thursday that it will acquire a stake in Los Angeles-based boxing promoter Golden Boy Promotions, Oscar De La Hoya’s company.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. AEG will become the second-largest shareholder behind De La Hoya, according to the announcement.

“Our new partnership will create so many new synergies from jointly promoting events in their arenas worldwide to exploring new ways to develop successful promotions built around our boxing shows taking place in their facilities,” De La Hoya said in a statement.

With this deal, AEG said that it now hopes to hold 100 fights per year in AEG-owned or operated facilities.

In February, AEG and Golden Boy Promotion and another investor took operating control of the Houston Dynamo soccer club.

AEG is a wholly owned subsidiary of Anschutz Co. It owns the L.A. Galaxy soccer club and the L.A. Kings hockey team. Venues under its ownership or management include Staples Center, El Rey Theatre, Nokia Theater and Home Depot Center.
