Dole Food Company Inc. said it had completed the sale of its English ripening and distribution businesses JP Fresh and its similar French business, Dole France, to a partner for an undisclosed sum.

The transaction with Compagnie-Fruitiere Group first announced in September recently received clearance from French antitrust authorities. Westlake Village-based Dole holds a non-controlling 40 percent in the family-controlled Compagnie Fruiti & #269;re.

“This transaction will allow Dole and Compagnie Fruiti & #269;re to better serve our European markets, by providing our customers with an extended range of product origins and a more integrated sales policy,” Jean-Christophe Juilliard, Dole Europe’s president, said in a statement.

Dole, owned by Los Angeles billionaire David Murdock, reported 2007 net revenues of $6.93 billion. It is considered the world’s largest producer and marketer of high-quality fresh and fresh-packaged fruit and fresh vegetables.
