Disney Says 1,900 Jobs Eliminated at U.S. Theme Parks

Walt Disney Co., the world’s largest theme-park operator, said it eliminated about 1,900 jobs from its Florida and California resorts as part of a reorganization announced in February.

The cuts “reflect today’s economic realities,” Tasia Filippatos, a spokeswoman for Burbank-based Disney’s parks and resorts unit, said in an e-mailed statement. “We continue to work through our reorganization and manage our business based on demand.”

Disney, which employs 80,000 in its U.S. parks division, eliminated 1,200 salaried workers and 700 unfilled salaried positions.
