Digital voice and video provider XCast Labs Inc. said Wednesday that it had closed a $2.7 million financing round, which was led by Santa Monica boutique investment banker Siemer & Associates LLC.

Investors in the round, which included Frontera Capital and members of the Pasadena Angels, see XCast as way to gain a piece of the growing market for residential and business voice-over-Internet services.

XCast of Century City said its technology can be used as a first-line replacement service for residential and small office customers, and will be fully interoperable with the popular VoIP software Skype.
