The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County surpassed $3 for the first time since Oct. 30 today, rising 1.2 cents to $3.006.

The average price has risen 43 consecutive days and is 10.6 more than a week ago and 53.5 cents more than a month ago, but $1.61 less than at this time last year and $1.62 below the record high of $4.626 set last June 21, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
