Energy Innovations Inc., a Pasadena maker of commercial solar products, announced Friday that Joseph Budano has joined the company as chief executive.

Budano, who also will serve on Energy Innovations’ board, has more than 25 years of corporate leadership experience. He most recently was president of a division of Xantrex Technologies Inc., a solar inverter and power electronics manufacturer.

“Joe’s experience is a great fit at this stage of the company’s evolution and we’re extremely pleased to welcome him to the Energy Innovations team,” Chairman Bill Gross said in a statement.

Energy Innovations is developing the Sunflower line of low-cost photovoltaic products. It is an operating company of Idealab, a Pasadena technology business incubator founded by Gross.
