OSI Gets Airport Security Order

OSI Systems Inc. said its security division was awarded a $3 million follow-on order to supply its Rapiscan X-Ray scanning systems to the U.S. Transportation Security Administration.

The TSA has ordered more than $40 million worth of advanced baggage and parcel screening equipment from Rapiscan Systems since August 2007, the Hawthorne company said.

This award is different in that it is one of the first by TSA using economic stimulus funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The agency has deployed more than 380 Rapiscan 620DV AT systems at roughly 30 U.S. airports.

OSI Systems shares closed down 15 cents, or less than 1 percent, on the Nasdaq.
