Cherokee Signs Agreements for Sideout

Cherokee Inc. said late Friday that it has entered into three new exclusive license agreements that will expand its Sideout sports brand.

The Van Nuys fashion company said Hudson Bay Apparel Brands, a subsidiary of Scope Apparel, has been granted the exclusive right in the U.S. to men’s and young men’s woven tops, bottoms and swimwear. Scope Apparel, with offices in Los Angeles, is a supplier of branded and private label men’s and boy’s apparel.

Exclusive rights in the U.S. to tops, bottoms and swimwear for boys sizes 0 – 20, was granted to Baby Togs Kids Design Group, a New York apparel company that designs and manufactures boys and girls apparel.

Getracan Inc, a Montreal apparel company, has been granted the exclusive right in Canada to make tops, bottoms and swimwear for men’s, young men’s and boy’s sizes 4 – 18.

Jay Kester, Executive Vice President of Marketing for Cherokee Inc. said the company now has eight manufacturers making products for the Sideout brand, which has roots in California’s beach volleyball culture.

Shares closed up 3 cents, or less than 1 percent, to $16.27 on the Nasdaq.
