Molina Healthcare Inc. on Tuesday announced an agreement to acquire Unisys Corp.’s health information management business for $135 million.

The Unisys unit provides outsourcing to state governments for their Medicaid management information systems. Molina, a Long Beach managed health care provider, said it would pay cash. The acquisition is expected to close in the first half of this year.

The unit, which Molina said has about $110 million in annual revenue, now has Medicaid management contracts with the states of Idaho, Louisiana, Maine, New Jersey and West Virginia, and also provides drug rebate administration services for the Florida Medicaid program.

The unit’s 900 employees will become employees of Molina Healthcare upon closing of the transaction.

“The business will complement our Medicaid health plan business and advance our strategic plan by expanding our services and product offerings beyond managed care,” Chief Executive J. Mario Molina said in a press release.

Molina’s shares closed up 48 cents, or 2 percent, to $23.68 on the New York Stock Exchange
