Shoe manufacturer K-Swiss announced late Thursday it has purchased Laguna Beach-based Form Athletics, an apparel company that caters to Mixed Martial Arts enthusiasts.

Form Athletics will operate as a division of K-Swiss led by Mark Miller, Form’s founder and current chief executive. Miller will be president of Form Athletics and will head up K-Swiss Orange County, a new division of the company focused on youths.

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Miller has a track record of developing sports-focused companies. He launched M3 Snowboards in 1996 and then worked as an executive at DC shoes. He officially launched Form early this year in partnership with former World Extreme Cagefighting champion Urijah Faber.

“Form plays well as a growth opportunity for our portfolio as Mixed Martial Arts is one of the fastest growing and most relevant new markets in sports today,” David Nichols, executive vice president of K-Swiss, said in a statement. “Mark has incredible experience leading some of the most prominent action sports companies in history, and we are confident that he will create a progressive and successful program for K-Swiss.”

In mid-day trading Friday, shares of Westlake Village-based K-Swiss were up 26 cents to $12.01, a gain of 2 percent since Thursday’s close.
