The Gores Group LLC on Wednesday said that it acquired nearly all assets and assumed certain liabilities of National Envelope Corp., a Texas company considered the world’s largest envelope producer. The company has been going through Chapter 11 reorganization.

Gores Group, founded by Alec Gores, did not disclose what it paid for National Envelope, which is based in Frisco and generates revenues of about $600 million. It has been in business since 1952.

“NEC will serve as an attractive platform for future growth, both in the envelope industry and across other relevant adjacencies,” said Jordan W. Katz, Gores Group managing director.

This is the third announced deal by the Westwood investment firm in two weeks. On Sept. 1, Gores Group partnered with Platinum Equity LLC, founded by Gores’ brother Tom Gores, to acquire entertainment distributor Alliance Entertainment LLC of Coral Springs, Fla.

Gores Group on Aug. 30 made an undisclosed investment in J. Mendel, a New York global luxury fashion brand.
