Edmunds.com, a popular online site for automotive information, on Wednesday said its board had promoted three long-serving executives and selected a new chief executive.

The Santa Monica company, which publishes Web sites that offer car pricing and other research tools, said Avi Steinlauf was promoted from president to chief executive, Jeremy Anwyl, who has been chief executive since 2007, becomes vice chairman. Seth Berkowitz takes on the title of president but will retain his chief operating officer duties and title. The changes are effective immediately.

Anwyl joined the company in 1999 as COO, and the company in its announcement credited him with “playing an integral role in shaping the company’s development.” His new role will enable him to spend more time on strategic advancements, it said.

Steinlauf joined Edmunds in 1998 as the director of business development and also has headed the company’s marketing and revenue management areas. Berkowitz came to Edmunds.com in 2000 as general counsel after practicing law at Sullivan & Cromwell in the mergers and acquisition department.

The company also noted that it has 17 open positions, information about which can found at the main Edmunds.com web site.
