Edmunds.com to Offer ‘Daily Deals’

Automotive information service Edmunds.com has jumped on the online daily deal bandwagon, announcing Monday that it will begin providing exclusive offers from automakers, car dealers and service providers.

The Santa Monica company, which helps prospective new and used car buyers do research, said “Edmunds Exclusives,” will initially launch in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area and spread to other markets over the summer. It’s considered the first daily deal operation to specialize in the automotive sphere. In addition to sales, it will include offers for dealer repairs and parts, maintenance and body shops, aftermarket audio dealers and auto broker services.

“The launch of ‘Edmunds Exclusives’ now brings more purchase power to car buyers, while at the same time giving dealers and automakers a new channel to market their products as they look to meet sales targets and make room for new models,” Michelle Denogean, vice president of business operations, said in a statement.

In the wake of the success of daily deal giant Groupon, several Los Angeles-area companies have begun offering general daily deal offers via email, ranging from Torrance technology retailer PC Mall Inc. to Triton Media Group, a Sherman Oaks company that provides digital products to the radio industry.

Group Commerce Inc., a New York company, is providing the social buying technology behind Edmunds’ service, the company said.
