Live Nation Entertainment Inc.’s Ticketmaster operation and online deal site Groupon announced a partnership to develop an online ticketing deal website called GrouponLive.

The Beverly Hills concert promoter said GrouponLive is expected to launch before the summer concert season. It will serve as a local resource for Live Nation events and Ticketmaster clients, and enable consumers to find lower cost, high-value tickets to concerts, sports, theater, arts and other events,.

“Our success is based on selling tickets and filling seats and GrouponLive gives us another platform to achieve this,” Live Nation Chief Executive Michael Rapino said in a statement late Monday.

North American concert revenue for the company fell 8 percent to $4.25 billion, hurt by weaker consumer demand and high ticket prices. Live Nation in response began booking fewer shows and cutting prices for seats that farther from the stage. The deal with Chicago-based Groupon builds on the effort by creating another venue for marketing deals on tickets.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Live Nation shares on Tuesday were up 2 cents, or 1 percent, to $10.72, in midday trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
