Special Report: Fastest Growing Private Companies

0

It’s always impressive to read about a company that started on a poker table six years ago and grew to report $13 million in revenue last year. Such is the case of Gravitas Ventures, an El Segundo video-on-demand company, which ranks in the top 10 of L.A.’s Fastest Growing Private Companies this year thanks to increased sales of more than 600 percent over two years. Needless to say, Gravitas and the other young companies on the list, such as mail-forwarding service Shipito in Torrance and car-buying website TrueCar in Santa Monica, aren’t operating on poker tables anymore. But many of the leaders of the companies – including some not-so-young companies on the list – vow to maintain the same entrepreneurial spirit, counting on continued fast growth. This annual survey ranks the top 100 local companies by revenue growth from 2009 to 2011. Their gambles paid off and all were celebrated at a Business Journal event last week at the SLS Hotel near Beverly Hills. To read profiles of the top 10 plus some other coverage, turn the page.
