Canadian Firm Acquires ‘Beat The Traffic’ Website

A Canadian company on Tuesday said that it acquired Beat The Traffic, a Santa Clara company that provides traffic information for local TV stations and other media websites.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The buyer is Pelmorex Media Inc. of Oakville, Ontario, Canada. It is the parent of The Weather Network and MétéoMédia, and plans to use Beat The Traffic’s technology to expand its existing services. The service will be part of the Travelers Network, which will launch in late October.

BeatTheTraffic.com, whose local clients include Time Warner Cable, currently has a presence in 130 metropolitan areas in the United States, Canada and Germany. Founder Andre Gueziec will join Travelers Network in the new position of director of research and development.

The companies said Beat The Traffic will continue to have an office in Santa Clara.
