Cheesecake Factory Inc. has reached an agreement to sell its cheesecakes through Harry & David Holdings Inc., a leading catalog and online-gift company.

The agreement, announced Tuesday, marks the first time the Calabasas-based restaurant chain has offered its desserts through a third-party online retailer. The company's Cheesecake Factory Bakery Inc. unit will work directly with Harry & David, based in Medford, Ore., to supply the product.

“Teaming up with Harry & David allows us the opportunity to bring the Cheesecake Factory's signature desserts from our restaurant tables to holiday dinner tables across the country," said Max S. Byfuglin, president of the baking unit.

Nine varieties of the cheesecakes will be offered and at premium prices, with a $9.95 surcharge that includes a dry-ice package and two-day express delivery. The original, pumpkin cheesecake and tiramisu cheesecakes are being sold for $44.95, while a red velvet cheesecake will sell for $54.95, not including the surcharge.

In other company news, Cheesecake Chief Executive David Overton had his contract extended until April 1, 2015, according to a company regulatory filing.

Shares of Cheesecake closed up 37 cents, or a fraction of a percent, to $48.58 on the Nasdaq.
