Responses from Chief Executive Jeff Platt:

How did you manage the growing workload? For example, did you have to add space or move into new facilities?

To be able to properly handle the growing workload, you need to overhire or bring people in six months earlier than needed so you can adequately train them and make sure that they are a proper fit for the company. We have learned this the hard way over the years. Now, we put a lot of thought into carefully planning out our infrastructure and team needs. We will be doubling the size of our office in the coming months and actually will be transitioning to an open office floor plan. As our culture is so collaborative, I feel it is important for everyone, including myself, to work together cohesively in the open – not behind closed doors and walls.

What was the biggest challenge for your staff?

It is important to not only focus on the daily objectives, but also to think in the long term so that you do not lose sight of your main goals and initiatives. Finding a balance between achieving short-term objectives while maintaining and supporting the long-term vision/objectives can be a challenge.

Do you plan on continuing a fast-growth path or has the time come to slow down a bit?
We will continue down the fast-growth path, signing more franchise licenses and opening more locations, but will become more focused and strategic about what decisions we make and what projects we take on. Most importantly, we will learn to say no.
