Ryland Group Inc. announced Friday that it has opened a residential development in Texas.

Breckenridge Forest North in Spring, a neighborhood in the Houston area, features homes with up to five bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms. Homes start at less than $200,000.

The Westlake Village homebuilder has opened several new communities in Colorado, as well as Indiana, in the last few months.

Last summer, Ryland acquired the assets of Cornell Homes, a Philadelphia home builder, the fourth acquisition the company made in the year. The company has operations in 17 states.

Shares closed up 11 cents, or less than 1 percent, to $43.63 on the New York Stock Exchange.
