Skechers Accuses Fila of Infringement

Footwear maker Skechers USA announced Thursday that it has filed a federal lawsuit against Fila U.S.A., alleging that the latter company has infringed upon the patents and design of one of its products.

The Manhattan Beach-based Skechers USA contends that Fila’s Amazen Memory Moc shoe illegally copies its own GOwalk product line. A side-by-side image comparison provided by Skechers with the announcement of the suit shows both products as slip-on shoes with similar stitching and a thick white sole.

Skechers USA filed the case in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. The company filed a lawsuit in June against Reebok International Ltd. that also alleged infringements against the GOwalk shoe.

Shares of Skechers USA fell 98 cents, or 2 percent, to $45.30 a share Thursday on the New York Stock Exchange.
