Danish Firm to Pursue Web Links in Westwood

Danish digital advertising company Adform announced the opening of its U.S. offices last week, one in New York and the other in Westwood.

The ad tech firm operates a platform for advertisers and publishers to buy and sell Web ads in real time. The company said the offices will help support its U.S.-based clients.

David Aron, West Coast vice president of sales for Adform, heads the Westwood office.

He said the first item on his to-do list is to get to know potential clients.

“We need to interface with Web publishers,” he said. “We have to interface with other tech providers and ad agencies.”

Aron said he’s already met with several publishers and many have expressed interest in working with the company, but the next phase is getting them on board.

Adform was founded in 2002 and has 14 offices, mostly in Europe. Aron has two workers in Westwood.

Before joining Adform two months ago, Aron was in Los Angeles as sales director for Ziff Davis Inc., a New York digital media company.

Competition from other local ad tech companies, such as OpenX in Pasadena and Rubicon Project in Playa Vista, might make it difficult to develop business, but Aron sees an opening. He said the company’s European roots will open doors for U.S. publishers and advertisers to reach an international audience. He also wants to attract U.S. brands to use its platform to launch ad campaigns featuring interactive Web videos.

“We’re aggressively hitting the marketplace and establishing these relationships and connecting the pipes, if you will, in terms of what’s required to make this work,” he said.

New Office

Janine Perry, founder of marketing firm Perry Design and Advertising, wanted a change.

So she moved her business from Rancho Cucamonga to Claremont last month and rebranded the firm.

Perry said the move should help expand business opportunities.

“Claremont is on the border of the Inland Empire, but it’s (in) Los Angeles County,” she said. “So, I thought I could tap into building some new business and still keep my connections strong with the Inland Empire.”

The boutique agency is also shifting its focus from working with a broad range of clients to focusing on lifestyle brands such as restaurants, beauty and hospitality companies. However, she doesn’t plan to stop working with existing clients such as SunWest Engineering Constructors Inc. in Chino.

Founded in 1997, Perry runs the agency alone but hires contractors when taking on larger projects. It’s the first time the firm has rebranded. The process took three months and she jumped on it when she saw an opening in her schedule.

“You keep busy and you’re busy working for your clients,” she said. “I had a little gap and some time so I made the decision to do a complete rebrand for myself.”
