Freedom Communications on Monday announced that it will launch its daily newspaper in Los Angeles next month.

Freedom in Santa Ana, which publishes the Orange County Register, will begin publishing the daily Los Angeles Register April 16. Single copies will cost $1.50 on weekdays and $2 on Sundays and will be available at about 7,500 retail and news rack locations.

Home delivery will cost less than $1 a day, or $19.99 for an initial four week subscription. Subscribers to the Long Beach Register will also begin receiving the paper.

Freedom will also begin publishing about a dozen new monthly community newspapers in areas such as Manhattan Beach and Pomona. The company announced last week it will also begin to publish a Spanish-language weekly in Los Angeles called Unidos en el Sur de California.
