Rolling Out the Red Carpet for ‘Star Wars’

The big Hollywood premiere of Walt Disney Co.’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is just hours away with some predicting it could be bigger than the Academy Awards, LAist reports.

However, anyone traveling in the area the past few days has likely been caught up in the traffic snarls that have ensued as a result.

Four blocks of Hollywood Boulevard are closed off to accommodate a massive tent being erected in front of the Hollywood & Highland Center. The more than 100 fans camped out in front of the TCL Chinese Theater on Hollywood Boulevard ahead of the Dec. 18 general movie opening have been asked to move as a result.

Details of the premiere have been shrouded in secrecy, but Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti is among those scheduled to walk the red carpet this evening.
