An airport police task force at Los Angeles International Airport has arrested a man who may have a history of baggage theft.

The Los Angeles Airport Police Crime Task Force investigators arrested Ryan Green, a 23-year-old student who lives in Long Beach, for commercial burglary after he allegedly snatched bags that did not belong to him off of baggage claim carousels in two different LAX terminals, then snuck off to a restroom to paw through the stolen bags.

Green was arrested as he walked to a shuttle stop in what police say was most likely an attempt to leave the airport.

In a subsequent interview conducted by task force detectives, Green admitted to taking the luggage and provided a written statement. He said that he used his mother’s airline “buddy pass” to fly into LAX from San Jose earlier that day.

The task force detectives presented the case to the District’s Attorney Office on Tuesday, which resulted in five felony counts of commercial burglary against Green.
