State Film Commission Targets New TV Productions

A flood of new TV shows could be filmed in Los Angeles this summer under new incentives being rushed through by the California Film Commission.

The commission voted Thursday to try and speed up implementation of the television regulations in the state’s new production credit program.

That program, signed into law last year by Gov. Jerry Brown, triples funding to $330 million annually and lets more projects qualify.

Draft regulations will go for review by the governor’s Office of Administrative Law. If approved by the commission’s May 11 target date, the change would allow many of the TV series that shoot in the summer to apply for tax credits with a view to bringing fresh productions and jobs to the region.
