Guess Licensee Settles Suit

Signal Products Inc., a Los Angeles company that manufactures luggage and accessories under licenses from Guess Inc. and other brands, has settled its suit seeking to force American Zurich Insurance Co. to cover more than $3.4 million in defense costs from a trademark dispute between Guess and Gucci America Inc., according to Wednesday filings in California federal court. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.

Signal’s 2013 suit claimed that Zurich had breached its duty by refusing to pay the defense costs stemming from Gucci’s trademark suit against Guess, and also sought punitive damages.
