Friday Rundown: What to Watch this Weekend

0

For the business professional looking for the perfect movie to watch this weekend, here’s our summary of some latest releases, focusing on the business aspects of each plot.

JURASSIC WORLD – In a bid to boost business at her theme park, operations manager Claire Dearing, played by Bryce Dallas Howard, gives the green light to a new genetically engineered dinosaur attraction – only for the “attraction” to escape its enclosure and eat countless customers. Claire survives the carnage – at one point managing to outrun a charging T-Rex while wearing high heels.

ANT-MAN – Forced out of his Silicon Valley tech company by a duplicitous former protégé, Michael Douglas’s tycoon character Hank Pym plots revenge with the help of a petty criminal and a secret invention which allows him to put a family succession plan in place.

MR. HOLMES – When his prestigious detective agency closes after he scandalously blows a case, Ian McKellen’s Sherlock Holmes retires to the countryside where he causes his housekeeper’s son to have a near fatal accident but makes up for it, and avoids a potential lawsuit, by willing his fortune to the boy and his mother.

PIXELS – When an unpopular U.S. President, who is so dumb that he can’t even read, faces the challenge of an alien invasion, he calls on his video games installer pal Sam Brenner, played by Adam Sandler, to save the day, rightly figuring out that Sam’s skill at gaming will be enough to kill the invaders and boost his own approval rating.

TRAINWRECK – Amy, a magazine journalist played by Amy Schumer, shows a complete lack of professionalism by sleeping with a doctor she is profiling for the magazine she writes for – and then commits another big no-no by pitching the article to a rival, bigger selling magazine. Meanwhile, she has booze and drug problems.
