Machinima: YouTube multi-channel network Machinima of West Hollywood launched a stand-alone app for its video content. In addition to a video player, the app has audience polling features, a GIF generator and social features for fans and creators to interact with each other.

NDER: L.A.’s NDER, an app that allows online daters to investigate the relationship status of potential partners, launched. The app connects users who search the same phone number, allowing them to anonymously chat about their mutual connection, perhaps outing a cheating spouse.

Business Card Swap: Ridding the world of wallet stuffing business cards is Santa Monica Business Card Swap’s main goal. Launched by Jason Nazar, founder of online business document sharing company DocStoc of Santa Monica, this app connects to LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and allows users to swap contact information via text and email.

UCLA: The UCLA Anderson School of Management launched a new technology center backed by an $11 million gift from alumnus James L. Easton, founder of Easton Sports. The center will expand the schools programs to teach technology management to non-technical students.

RipIt: Santa Monica’s Ripit, a GoPro video editing app, launched. The app is designed to help surfers more quickly edit their GoPro videos by automatically identifying the points in their recordings when they ride a wave.

CarLove: Car pickup and repair service app CarLove of Venice launched across West Los Angeles. The service picks up cars, delivers them to local repair shops and then returns them after the maintenance is done.

Too.me: Cartoon messaging feature Too.me of Los Angeles launched. The app lives within the Facebook Messenger and lets users text animated cartoons to each other with accompanying sound.
