Ducommon, Gulfstream Expand Relationship

Carson aerospace manufacturer Ducommun Inc. is expanding its business with business-jet maker Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. to make parts for two new business jets models.

Under the multimillion dollar contracts, Ducommun will manufacture parts for the G500 and G600 large-cabin, long-range business jets as Gulfstream’s exclusive supplier. It did not disclose the specific value of the contracts.

The contracts are the latest wins for Ducommun as it seeks to grow its commercial aerospace market.

According to Ducommun, Gulfstream, a subsidiary of Falls Church, Va.’s General Dynamics, expects to start delivering the G500 jet line in 2018. The G600 is set to begin tests about a year after the G500 and enter service in 2019.

Ducommun already provides electronics and structures for other Gulfstream jets.

California Partners to Fight Climate Change

California Gov. Jerry Brown on Tuesday joined forces with leaders from states and provinces around the world to sign an agreement limiting the average worldwide temperature increase to below two degrees Celsius, a measure aimed at fighting climate change.

As part of Tuesday’s agreement, the leaders have committed to either reducing greenhouse gas emissions to below 1990 levels by or hitting other targets by 2050.

The group – which includes leaders from Oregon, Vermont, Washington state; Ontario and British Columbia, Canada; and Catalonia, Spain – also plans to recruit leaders of other states and provinces in advance of the United Nations Climate Change Conference scheduled to be held later this year in Paris.
