Gas Prices Accelerate Over Weekend

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose today for the fourth consecutive day, increasing 1 cent to $2.534.

The Los Angeles Daily News reported that the average price rose 7.8 cents on Friday, the largest daily increase since July 14. This was followed by a 5.8 cent raise on Saturday, and a 2.7 cent increase on Sunday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The increases pushed the average price 13.8 cents above what it was one week ago. However, it is 23 cents less than a month ago and 93.9 cents lower than this time last year.
