Moss Adams LLP has hired Bill Sturges as a tax senior manager. Sturges was most recently a senior manager at Deloitte and Touche LLP.
KPMG, an accounting firm, has hired Paul Kim as a partner in its federal tax practice in Los Angeles. Kim was previously a partner with Deloitte & Touche in New York.
Architecture
Yazdani Studio of Cannon Design, an architectural, interiors and product-design firm, has hired Paul Gonzales as design manager and Bee Rarewala as marketing communications manager. Gonzales was most recently a principal at RTKL, an international architecture, engineering and planning firm. Rarewala was formerly with the SmithGroup, another Los Angeles architecture and engineering company, as its marketing manager.
Jason Halaby has been promoted to project design associate at DeStefano and Partners, an architecture and interior design firm. He was a design architect with the company.
Leo A Daly, an international architecture, planning, engineering and interior design firm, has hired Bill Bruneau as aviation planner at its Los Angeles office. Bruneau was most recently senior program manager at Denver International Airport.

Max C. Jong has joined Risk Management Advisors Inc., a Long Beach financial planning firm, as managing partner and senior principal. Jong was previously a director at Strategic Financial Group/Northwestern Mutual.
HSBC Bank USA N.A. has appointed Phil Soh as vice president, senior relationship manager in the bank’s California commercial banking division. Soh was previously with Citibank’s commercial banking group.
Andy Sale has joined the board of directors for the Los Angeles branch of the Federal Reserve Bank. Sale is currently a partner leading the media and entertainment practice in the Pacific Southwest for accounting firm Ernst & Young.
Central Pacific Bank has promoted Dory Ann Lagman to vice president and loan portfolio administrator, Helen Lee to assistant vice president and credit underwriter and portfolio manager, Maria Martinez to assistant vice president and loan servicing officer, and Aaron Rodriguez to assistant vice president and operations and loan servicing officer. Lagman was assistant vice president and loan portfolio administrator. Lee was loan analyst and underwriter. Martinez was loan service officer. Rodriguez was loan service specialist.
National Planning Holdings Inc., an independent broker and dealer network, has appointed Jim Miller as senior vice president of operations. Miller was formerly the president and chief executive of NPH subsidiary SII Investments in Appleton, Wis.
John R. Baracy has joined Stone & Youngberg, an underwriter of municipal bonds, as vice president in Los Angeles. Baracy was most recently vice president at RBV Capital Investments.
Mellon Financial Corp., a financial services company providing asset management and investor counseling, has hired Shana Warshaw as senior director of its private wealth management group’s family office practice in Los Angeles. Warshaw was president of Paul L. Comstock Co., an investment advisory firm in Houston.

Jeffrey C. Briggs has been re-elected chairman of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. Briggs is currently partner of Briggs Law Office in Hollywood.
The Port of Long Beach’s Board of Harbor Commissioners has promoted Robert Kanter to managing director of environmental management and planning. Kanter was the director of planning and environmental affairs.
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has appointed Monica Rea of San Marino to assistant associate secretary of external affairs for the Health and Human Services Agency, H.E. Schockman of Sherman Oaks to the California Postsecondary Education Commission, Eunice David of Los Angeles to the California Arts Council, Charmaine Jefferson of Los Angeles to the California Arts Council, and Frances Weber of Redondo Beach to the State Water Resources Control Board. Rea was most recently deputy coalitions director of Californians for Schwarzenegger 2006. Schockman is president of non-profit public foundation MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger. David has been a member of the California Arts Council since 2004. Jefferson is executive director of the California African American Museum. Weber is executive director for policy for the Mono Lake Committee.

Employers Group, a consulting company providing training, seminars and products for human resources, has named Mark Wilbur president and chief executive. Wilbur was most recently associate dean of the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California.
Law
William Mark Levinson has joined Greenberg Traurig LLP in their Los Angeles law firm as a shareholder. Levinson was most recently a partner at Alschuler Grossman Stein & Kahan.
Non-Profit
Kathy Harren has been named president of the Association of California Nurse Leaders, a nonprofit nursing organization. Harren is chief nursing officer of Little Company of Mary, a nonprofit Catholic healthcare system in Torrance.
Real Estate
C. Alan Arthur has been named to senior vice president and chief financial officer of the Fieldstone Corp., a homebuilding company. Arthur was vice president and chief financial officer of Fieldstone Communities, Inc., an indirect subsidiary of Fieldstone Corp.
Younan Properties Inc., a real estate investment group, has hired Adam Knowlton as senior vice president and general counsel. Knowlton was formerly a partner in law firm Freeman, Freeman & Smiley in Los Angeles.
Charles Dunn Co., a commercial real estate firm, has hired Kristin Tonkin as regional vice president in its North Hollywood office. Tonkin previously was property manager for the Vons Companies Inc. grocery chain.
Lilian Hanna has been promoted to senior vice president, legal of BentleyForbes, a real estate investment firm. Hanna was associate general counsel with the firm.

Scott Hartz has been named a member of the strategic advisory board for US Technology, a provider of IT services. Hartz previously served as chief executive of PwC Consulting, the consulting arm of PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Inphi Corp., which designs and develops integrated circuits, hired Norman Yeung as vice president, engineering. Yeung was most recently the senior director at Sun Microsystems, a network computing company.
DirecTV Group Inc., a satellite television provider, has promoted Derek Chang to executive vice president of content strategy and development, and Dan Hartman to senior vice president, programming acquisition. Chang was senior vice president, strategy and development. Hartman was vice president, programming and acquisitions.
Holly Musselman has been promoted to director of operations at Ravenswork, a provider of audio post-production services to the advertising industry. Musselman was scheduler for Ravenswork.
KUDOS
The Los Angeles Urban League will honor Charles H. Smith, former president and chief executive of AT&T West, at the league’s 34th Annual Whitney M. Young Jr. Awards Dinner. The award is granted in honor of the tradition established by Young, former executive director of the National Urban League. The dinner is April 12 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Century City.
