The Long Beach software developer Laserfiche announced on Wednesday that its executive board has appointed Chris Wacker as the company’s chief executive and Karl Chan as the company’s president.

The appointments follow the news that Nien-Ling Wacker, who founded Laserfiche in 1987, died of breast cancer on Oct. 19. She was 70.

Her husband of 20 years, Chris Wacker has served as the company’s executive vice president since 2011 and joined Laserfiche the year it was founded.

“For me, Nien-Ling’s passing is an indescribable loss,” he said in a statement. “She was my partner in life, an inspiration and an exceptional person.”

Chan is also a long-timer at Laserfiche. He joined the company in 1989, and has served as chief technology officer since 2005.
