The fantasy of gaming and the cutthroat world of business collide Tuesday as video-game publishers and technology firms show off their wares at the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center.


Software developers and hardware manufacturers in the multibillion-dollar industry drag out their brightest, fastest and loudest high-tech devices during the three-day trade show and conference, starting today. This is the event gamers worldwide look to for a first peek at what they’ll be playing in coming months.


Much of the chatter at this year’s go-round will center on new hardware from console makers. Microsoft has already begun discussing its Xbox 360, while Sony announced details of its PlayStation3 on Monday. Developers also expect announcements from Nintendo regarding Revolution, its replacement for the GameCube.
